In April 2008 a Northern Territory fishing and seafood industry delegation travelled to New Zealand to examine best practise resource management with regards to Indigenous, commercial and recreational use and management of fish stocks.
The delegation comprised representatives from the Northern Land Council (NLC), Amateur Fishermen’s Association of the Northern Territory Inc. (AFANT), the NT Government, C-AID Consultants and the NT Seafood Council (NTSC).
On 26 November 2008 the Northern Territory Seafood Council presented the Chief Minister with a document summarising the key findings from the New Zealand visit.
Mr Henderson said the Northern Territory Government is committed to working with all stakeholders affected by the Blue Mud Bay High Court ruling. The Government has begun the process of negotiating with all stakeholders to work towards an agreement between the parties.
