UPDATE: Temporary fishing permits
Temporary fishing permits for Territory fishers have been extended until 31 December 2009.
The Northern Territory Government is continuing to meet with land councils and stakeholders individually or part of a broader stakeholder group with regard to the Blue Mud Bay negotiating process.
All land councils have now extended the interim arrangements for commercial and recreational fishing until 31 December 2009. This will allow more time for land councils, stakeholders and the Territory Government to work together towards a practical negotiated outcome.
At the last broader Blue Mud Bay meeting (15 May 2009) a possible future framework was discussed.
